Privacy Policy

🔒 Local-First Privacy Statement

Annotate is built as a native local-first utility. Your screen recordings, drawing strokes, coordinate inputs, and keyboard bindings never leave your desktop computer.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

Annotate operates as a screen overlay utility. To provide local coordinate tracking, drawing shapes, and cursor spotlight highlights, the application interfaces with native operating system APIs locally.

  • Canvas Inputs: All drawing paths, colors, styles, and text annotations are processed entirely in-memory and are never stored or uploaded.
  • Screen Captures: The utility does not record, screenshot, store, or transmit any video feed, pixel buffers, or windows display frames.
  • Keystrokes: Global shortcut bindings are monitored locally by the system API to activate drawing tools. No keystrokes are recorded or compiled.

2. License Key Verification

When activating the software, the license key you enter is validated locally inside the application runtime. No telemetry, email tracking, or hardware profiles are sent to online trackers during activation.

3. Local Configuration Files

The software saves your custom brush sizes, color configurations, launch behaviors, and trial timelines to a local file (config.json) in your AppData directory. You can delete or clear this configuration file at any time.

4. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy to support future native features. Updates will be published directly to this page.
